Hurricane Rita

As Hurricane Rita gets closer and moves from category one to a category two hurricane, everyone is starting to get more apprehensive. If this had happened a few weeks ago one must wonder: would it have gotten as much media attention or cause as much panic as it is now? Considering the recent Hurricane Katrina, everyone, especially in costal and gulf regions, has renewed respect and fear for the forces of nature. A category two hurricane, such as Hurricane Rita, is not one to cause extensive damage to buildings or houses, although it will damage vegetation and unanchored mobile homes, and flood piers. Normally a category two hurricane wouldn't cause many people it hits too much alarm, but Hurricane Katrina shook so many people up they are now concerned about it. Also, weather forecasters are now predicting the hurricane may hit some of the areas already devestated by Hurricane Katrina. While this hurricane is definately newsworthy, it is just as much the areas it is affecting and recent events that make it so, as the hurricane itself.
