Analyzing the Media Economy

Does the rapid spread of American culture worldwide smother or encourage the growth of democracy and local cultures?

The American culture smothers the growth of democracy and local cultures because younger generations are more likely to follow trends and popular cutlure moreso than the older generations. If the younger generations continue to go with the popular American culture, overtime their customs and traditions can be lost and forgotten, such as the American Indians. The American culture encourages the growth of decmocracy and local cultures because people in other cutlures and countries see the popular trends and what is available and the freedom that Americans have, causing them to want similar opportunities. It opens the door for possibilities that other cultures were unaware existed.
